Art’s great nudes have gone skinny
Italian artist Anna Utopia Giordano has created a visual re-imagination of historic nude paintings, had the subjects conformed their bodies to what the 21st century considers an ideal of beauty. The results are revealing—and quite shocking in what they say about the modern attitude toward women’s bodies.
I guess eventually we’ll just not exist at all.
I love photoshop but the top photo is ridiculous. Why do we keep telling women they’re only beautiful if they have 0% body fat. I don’t know about the rest of you but I want something to hold onto when I hold my woman.

I’m so sick of this “curves” crap, yes it’s fine to be curvy, it is also fine to be skinny. Also before any smart ass says I’m being rude to transgender or transsexual people, they are exempt from this. But overall I’m sick and tired of skinny body types being belittled.
I am a bigger woman who believes that ALL women and people for that matter should be respected and celebrated. However I think what people aren’t getting about the whole “real women have curves” idea is that is it is a positive way of of thinking for women who hear a lot of negativity about their body on a daily basis. Yes everyday and I’m not just talking about how some people are made fun of or told to loose weight, I’m talking about how our very society is geared towards appearance and that appearance is a thin one. On tv shows and movies, in magazines and billboards, even in textbooks in school almost all the pictures in advertising we see are of thin women. So I am sorry that you thinner women find this train of thought non inclusive but its one of the few things you are excluded from. Because like it or not being thin is pretty much a gold members card.
Hell yes, Joey!

When my cousin asks me if she looks like she lost weight, I just say I don’t look at that on people,because that does not matter. I just let her know that if she’s happy that way,there is no problem, and what really matters is to be healthy. The same to my friends. I have a lot of friends that they can eat all day and will be always thin,because so is their genes and metabolism. And my BFF that is chubby, the same,her genes make her so because of genes and all. But what really matters is that all of them are healthy and they don’t have a serious illness because of their weight.
thank you for posting this <3

WHAT IS WRONG WITH EVERYONE
Do you not realize that bigger, curvy, over-weight, fat, thick, large whatever you want to call it men and women make up more than half of the entire worlds population. The world claims to have a national BMI but this measurement is generally inaccurate because what is good for one person isn’t good for another. So trying to live up to an average weight makes no sense. Plus the media will always play a pivotal role in how we see ourselves and those around us whether we want to admit to that or not.
Though adults enjoy Disney movies its really children that are most influenced and supported by them. There are scientific studies to prove there are children born with the genetic disposition to be over weight from the time of their birth through no fault of their parents or themselves. Children who no matter what they do will struggle with their size, and not just because they need to be healthy but because people will make them feel like they are wrong as they are.
What about them? Why is there no heroes or heroins or beautiful princesses to show them that who they are is enough ? As a kid I never loved the Disney characters I did because of their size or image I loved them because I could sing with them, because they reminded me myself, and because just watching them made me feel empowered to follow my own dreams.
Many children have no one who believes in them have no one who shows them how to see the good in others and themselves just one negative message after another. One Disney movie with a fat princess could do these things, why is that so damn threatening to so many people?
BODY = BEAUTIFUL
Health at Every Size
I stand campaign was made in response to this Georgia Childhood Obesity PSA

While the original ad is trying to tell kids and parents that there are reasons why children are over weight and to do something about it the main the thing they are really doing is shamming children and making them feel like there is something wrong with their bodies. One of the children even says “Big bones didn’t make me this way. Big Meals did.” Trying to deny the fact that there are numerous children born with the predisposition to be overweight. I do agree that exercise and healthier eating habits are important for everyone especially children but how effective are those things going to be if we take away their self esteem. The I STAND ads were simply a response to that why should it matter that some of the women are over weight.
I would also like to add that I can’t understand why people are wasting their time to reblog this simply to write negative comments. I’ve seen pictures on tumblr where people cheer for mutilated human lives but get all up in arms if they see one fat person. Stop being a puppet for society and decide for yourself what is attractive and not. Stop buying into the stereotypes; fat people are hard working clean articulate kind people, just as much as they can be lazy ignorant dirty assholes same for thinner people. Everyone judges themselves the most they don’t need someone else to aide in that.
